FAQs
Does the learner need to be able to read to learn from this material?
-
No! While each lesson includes some text to support emergent readers, all lessons are supported with graphics and photographs to provide visual aids for learners of all abilities.
Do I need to be a teacher or expert in sex education to teach these lessons?
-
Not at all! Each set of curriculum comes with a Teacher’s Guide that provides the suggested language for each lesson, so you don’t need to figure out what to say. Our lessons use simple and direct language that any instructor, educator, parent or caregiver can easily pick up and start teaching. No training involved.
Are these lessons appropriate for groups?
-
Yes! The lessons are written to accommodate a social group setting but can be easily adapted to an individual learner. We do encourage social groups to help learners interact and share with their peers, however individuals will equally benefit from this material taught in a one-on-one setting.
My learner has high support needs. Is this material appropriate for them?
-
Absolutely. We feel that every individual has the right to this information and lessons are designed to be adapted. While some learners may interact with the material in a more vocal or conversational way, all learners can benefit from hearing and experiencing this material. The lessons can be presented to any learner and we recommend lots of repetition. Additionally, if your learner has low support needs, there is plenty of room for continued discussion and expansion on each topic. The lessons are meant to be a guide for discussion, and you can add to it depending on how far your learner would like to go!
